WCu EDM Grinding Wheel
WCu EDM grinding wheels operate on the principles of electro-discharge grinding. During the machining process, one electrode is the grinding wheel, and the workpiece is the other. Both electrodes are submerged in dielectric liquid (kerosene / deionized water) with a small gap for discharge. The electrodes are connected to a power supply that creates a voltage gradient, which causes the dielectric to break down and a discharge channel to form. This produces extreme heat that is enough to melt or vaporize the workpiece material, which causes material to be removed. The grinding wheel also contributes to the erosion of the workpiece through electrically discharged erosion because of its rotational motion.
