Tungsten Copper High-voltage Switch Contacts
The combination of tungsten’s excellent high-temperature stability with copper’s high thermal and electrical conductivity makes tungsten-copper optimal for use as arc erosion contacts in gas-insulated switchgear, air-insulated switchgear, and high and medium-voltage generator circuit breakers. In the arc chamber, the tungsten-copper switch contacts endure extreme thermal and mechanical stress. During an arc, the temperature can reach levels greater than 20,000K.
Tungsten-copper high-voltage switch contacts are utilised as moving and static arc contacts, conductive rods, and shielding covers, as well as for uniquely shaped contacts. They are used at several voltage levels in GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) and GCB (Generator Circuit Breaker) products ranging from 35KV to 1000KV.
