Tungsten Copper Conductive Tip

Tungsten copper conductive tips, also commonly known as tungsten copper conductive nozzles, are frequently found in welding equipment. They are typically located at the end of the welding torch and used to feed the welding wire. Based on their inner hole shape, they can be classified as round, square, oval, triangular, etc.

Tungsten copper combines the advantages of both tungsten and copper. It not only possesses high hardness but also excellent wear resistance, resistance to electrolytic corrosion, and a high softening temperature. Whether used as electrodes with specific stress requirements in resistance welding or as conductive tips in arc welding, tungsten copper offers significant advantages and plays a crucial role in electrical discharge machining and welding processes. Tungsten copper conductive tips are made by sintering tungsten copper powder. The tungsten skeleton is evenly distributed on a copper matrix. When the temperature exceeds the melting point of copper, the liquid copper binds the tungsten skeleton together, forming a good conductor and heat dissipation path, preventing localised overheating of the tungsten skeleton during processing.

Tungsten copper conductive tips improve overall work efficiency due to their longer service life and superior welding performance compared to brass conductive tips. In vertical automatic welding, for plate thickness of 22-28mm, with welding wire diameter of φ2.4mm and contact tip orifice diameter of 2.8mm, tungsten copper and chromium copper contact tip post-weld wear differences are notable. After 20m of welding, tungsten copper conductive tips retain the circular orifice diameter, allowing further welding. After 2m of welding, chromium copper conductive tips have an eccentric circular tip due to poor wear resistance, resulting in an enlarged orifice diameter and poor further welding. Overall, due to high hardness, good hot hardness, wear resistance, strong resistance to arc erosion, anti-adhesion, and eccentric wear properties, tungsten copper conductive tips have good application prospects.
