Conductive Tungsten-copper Thin Sheets

Composite conductive materials of tungsten (W) and copper (Cu) are manufactured using conductive tungsten-copper thin sheets. These sheets combine tungsten’s high melting and hardening points and more than average density with copper’s high electrical and thermal conductivity, as well as its ease of machining. The thin sheets are manufactured using a series of steps, including powder mixing and pressing with high-temperature sintering and infiltration, leading to a high-density microstructure with no internal porosity and a uniform, moderate level of electrical and thermal conductivity. The thin sheets are even used as electrical discharge machine (EDM) electrodes to machine high-hardness materials and as electrical contacts, high-temperature structural components, and welding and shielding materials in various advanced technologies.
